Cocoa was our constant companion for over 14 years.
As she was an outdoor cat, we arranged our lives around her schedule. We never left her outside if we were not home; because she preferred not to use a litter box (and we preferred not to clean one) we made sure to be home for her, never leaving her for more than 5 hours in a day. She was our morning alarm, and she always knew to be home by 10pm. We were, the three of us, thoroughly enmeshed in each other.
Cocoa was loved by so many - to this day, strangers stop us out front to tell us how much they miss sitting with her on the lawn of the church, next door; or watching her prowling the church yard and surrounding sidewalks.
Cocoa was a tremendous huntress, keeping our home mouse free for years. Outside, however, she made a lasting peace with the local raccoons and skunks, all of whom respected each others’ space. The squirrels were another story…
She was never a great cuddler, and no, thanks: she did NOT want to be in your lap. But she was a great comfort, and would stay close - if out of arm's reach - when we were sick or low, always keeping us in sight until things were better.
Her untimely death left us broken and raw.
Vessels was born from the abject heartbreak and overwhelming grief we in which we found ourselves engulfed from the moment we understood that we were in our last hours, together.
Whilst arranging to have her life ended in our home, we were also asked about “after care”. Wow: commercially available animal urns are not only exceptionally ugly, they’re really expensive for very uninteresting materials made into unpretty shapes. Even in the depths of our grief, we knew we could do better.
We made something that WE wanted to hold, now that we could never again hold our grrrl. Our Vessels are made in shapes and sizes that feel good in our hands, in our pockets, under our pillows; and look lovely in our home in all the places she loved to be.
Elegant, enduring, and discreet, these vessels serve not only as a resting place, but as a sacred object: a marker of presence, a vessel of memory, a tangible piece of your heart made permanent.
Her spirit lives on in every piece we create: tender, enduring, and full of light.
Beauty doesn't need to shout to be heard, and that presence, however small, can be profoundly powerful.
Hand-fabricated in Toronto with precision, care, and deep respect, these sterling silver Vessels are designed to hold the cremated remains of a beloved companion—human or animal. Each piece is a quiet tribute, a way to carry love forward in form and memory.
Crafted by devoted pet lovers, every vessel is individually made using traditional techniques and finished with modern detail. Personal touches—such as names, dates, or symbols—are precisely laser engraved to reflect the unique story of the one it honors.
Elegant, enduring, and discreet, these vessels serve not only as a resting place, but as a sacred object: a marker of presence, a vessel of memory, a tangible piece of your heart made permanent.
